2015 Race Report
It was a typical UK Bank Holiday with the weather changing throughout the day. Bright morning, but muggy by lunchtime when I and Neil Tattersall set out to mark the course and ready to rain by 3:00pm when we headed back home for a some food and drink before returning in the evening. By 5:00pm I was putting up the “Caution Runner” signs in heavy rain. But fortune smiled on us and by race start at 7:00pm it was dry, clear an some fantastic views could be had from around the course
The first EHR new race attracted 39 Runners from 10 different clubs but 15 of them came from Darwen Dashers so thanks to them especially for their support; that helped us a great deal.
Pre-entry Jon Green of Preston Harriers sent his apologies in a few hours before start time, but managed to get there and was rewarded with 1st place. Neil Holding of West Pennine Runners was 2nd overall and 1st MV with Chris Davies of Blackburn Harriers close behind in 3rd.
Elizabeth Greenwood of Blackburn Harriers was first lady with Beckie Taylor also of BBH 2nd and Amy Freeman of Darwen Dashers 3rd. Catherine Fox also a Dasher was 1st FV and 5th lady.
The winning time for Jon was 35:18 and for Elizabeth 41.10 which establishes tough new course records for the 5 mile course.
The team award based on best 2 male and female finishers went to Blackburn Harriers, just ahead of Dashers in 2nd and Red Rose Runners in 3rd.
It was good to see everyone enjoying the night out on the hills and also in the Royal afterwards.
